Crypt Thing

Manufacturer: Center Stage Miniatures/5th Field Miniatures

Year: 2013
Range/set: Tome of Horrors
Model number: TOH-06
Sculptor: Tim Prow

This miniature was a gift from my good friend Lars. I love its strange, forward-advancing floaty pose. I clipped off the base tab and pinned the figure to the base, as I didn’t care for how far forward the figure was originally leaning.

An image of the not-quite-finished green, by sculptor Tim Prow. The severe forward lean makes him look like he’s moving more quickly, but also makes it tougher to see the figure’s face when on the tabletop!

This fellow has a troubled history. The figure was part of a Kickstarter campaign by Center Stage Miniatures that was never fulfilled. Apparently, according to the Lost Minis Wiki, there were plans for roughly 800 miniatures, but that never came to fruition. Some of the models from the range ended up at Pacesetter Games after Center Stage closed (Pacesetter appears to now only produce RPG products and zero miniatures). Others ended up at 5th Field Miniatures, which is where this one can still be obtained.

This figure will be a hero in my army – THE STARLESS SYNOD – for an upcoming game I’m writing with my good friend Dellon. The idea is that he was once known as THE NORTH STAR, the powerful leader of the synod, but was killed under nefarious and mysterious circumstances. Having lost their lord, the synod became STARLESS and aimless without their visionary leader. In his resurrected form he is but a frail shell of what he once was, and he is known as THE LATE LUNATIC LORD. He is heavily affected by the phases of the moon.
