This heavily-converted miniature, whom has been given the name “Grudek the Deathless, Muckmage of the Mudclad Pit” – means a lot to me.

The base figure was sent by Red Bard Games to my friend Hank as prize support for 3-D Roleplay Con III (2023), which is where I obtained the figure. This version of the Ogre Paykeeper was never made available for purchase from Red Bard Games, but was included in some orders as a free gift.

Another friend of mine, Tanner Simpson, sent me a handful of small, original sculpted bits some years ago – I glued one of the faces from that stash on to this mini and wrapped the rest of the head in green stuff, leaving the horns from the helmet poking out. Some grass tufts on top function as bizarre spiky hair. The wings are from the Citadel Rot Flies kit. The strange hand is from a Flamer of Tzeentch. The miniature is on a 40mm round base.

I made this figure specifically for Cauldron, a beautiful and weird game by my good friends Dellon and Steven. I put the miniature together before Adepticon 2024, started painting it at home using Vallejo paints and finished painting it in Chicago at the event, using Kimera Models pure pigment paints borrowed from Evan. I finished the warband just in time to throw it on the table for a handful of Cauldron demo games at Adepticon.

Other than meeting loads of internet friends in real life, playing Cauldron was at the top of my list for the convention. I’m so glad I got to live it. Lots of friends and good memories wrapped up in this little guy.

I hope you like this weirdo.
