What else is there to say except “Olley forever!”?
I always love it when Olley went crazy with shields and relief designs.

All of the minis Olley sculpted for Essex have big ol’ heads. Is it goofy? Yes. But it also allowed Olley to really add an awful lot of detail and expression to these figures and they have really grown on me. Supremely fun to paint.

This miniature also reminds me of the wild and gross collage work that my good friend Shane makes. He doesn’t have an official website but you can follow him on Instagram or check out his roleplaying and tabletop games at his itch.io page.
I’ve been struggling to find my preferred solution for varnish/protecting my figures once they’ve been painted. For now I’ve settled on a brush-on coat of Vallejo Ultra Matte polyurethane varnish. I had a bit of a disaster yesterday when using a brush to apply Testors Dullcote to the previously-posted CRYPT THING – the paint was actually coming off the miniature and soaking into the brush. Guess that’s what happens when you use a solvent-based lacquer on top of acrylic paint. Was trying to find a non-spray solution but may have to go back to it. Anyway!
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.
