More Prokxémon

I really love contour drawings. If you’ve never heard of contour drawings, the premise is simple: draw your reference using a single line, without looking at what you’re drawing, and without picking up your pencil/pen/etc. It’s a really interesting exercise. Best if you keep it fairly fast and loose. It forces you to not worry about perfection. It activates your body awareness and develops your muscle control. It’s really wild and if you’ve never tried I absolutely recommend it.

So the two Pokémon below were done that way (with just a liiiittle bit of cheating – I had to pick up my pencil once or twice for some details like eyes and such and wanted those to look correct as I think the eyes really help make a creature recognizable), then painted quickly with watercolor. Contour drawing Pokémon proxies. Very fun and quick projects.

I also did a couple of Stadium cards – Crystal Cave is pretty useless for me right now as I have very few Steel-type Pokémon and only one Dragon-type but I had the right clippings for it. They’re from old issues of Dragon/Dungeon Magazine. The background of Mystery Zone is from some White Wolf supplement for Vampire: The Masquerade or Werewolf: The Apocalypse or something and the title characters are, once again, from Dragon/Dungeon mag.

I promise the next post will be miniatures-related. Haha! Thanks for following along, and apologies if this is zero interest to you. It’s a phase I guess. Low-pressure, low-time-investment projects are about all I have bandwidth for right now!
